(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 09, 2010 ) New York, NY - High-tech start-up company Wix.com designed website building software that allows users with no programming knowledge to build customized Flash websites. The Wix website builder is a GUI-based editor with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. An enormous supply of free templates are provided, which users can personalize via the website builder's collection of design elements. The company initiated a project earlier this year, the Wix Designers Directory, to put Wix users in touch with freelance web designers. Wix is excited to announce the beta version
version of this directory, the Wix Arena, in upcoming weeks.
Wix users who would like professional assistance with their websites can hire a professional web designer to touch-up their Wix websites, or to build them entirely from scratch. The current directory provides links to around 70 freelance designers, who have experience with the Wix free website builder. A small sampling of Wix websites created by each designer is displayed next to each designer's name. Users can browse the directory and contact as many designers as they wish before making a final selection.
Brandon Kreiss, the company's Director of Design Community, stated that Arena will be "a more robust directory and will enhance the designer-selection process for Wix users." Arena will include more than 100 designers, and will provide more samples of each designer's work, as well as client recommendations to lend credibility. Reward incentives will be implemented on the designer's end, including banner advertisements and a marketing budget with Google. These changes will encourage a more dynamic relationship amongst the Wix professional web design community. Wix invites interested web designers to send samples of their work with Wix to designers@wix.com.
Kreiss mentioned plans to arrange designers according to niche or specialty, to accommodate users with specific needs. In the future, the directory will include teams of SEO specialists who will work together with the designers providing users with a dream team of Wix support.
For Wix users who are drawn to the free aspect of building a Flash website with Wix, the company has created an extensive support network. The Wix Help Center is a wiki website with video tutorials and articles explaining everything about building a website with Wix. Users can ask questions through an ISQ widget built into the wiki. The Wix Forum provides a place for users to discuss issues and exchange ideas.
Wix was founded in 2005, and has headquarters based in New York with offices in Tel Aviv. The company is funded by Mangrove Capital Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners and Benchmark Capital.
