(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 29, 2010 ) JACKSONVILLE, FL –Emerging Hip Hop artist Jamil “King” Paris is set to release his highly anticipated debut mixtape, “King’s Ransom” March 1st, through SlipNslide Records On Da Grind program. King will be working alongside DJ Supastar J Kwik who is known for breaking artist such as Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, and many more. King’s music career is skyrocketing to the top, but music hasn’t always been his focus.
Until about a year ago, King had a widely successful college football career at the University of Kentucky, with tangible potential for going pro. Heart surgery ended his SEC days and squashed any chances for the NFL, but King didnÂ’t let these life-altering circumstances get him down. He simply shifted gears and refocused on music, something heÂ’s had a passion for since he was very young.
King was born and raised in the cruel streets of Gifford, Florida. The Victory Park Apartments on 40th Avenue and King Place became more than just a place to live; they became KingÂ’s classroom. Growing up in poverty has made him always want more. Though his mother and grandmother raised him in a household that put God first, being the son of a King Pin introduced him to a life of money, cars and women. His father was never around much thanks to the lifestyle he chose to live, so with no father at home King decided to let the streets raise him.
"All my life I saw nothing but drugs, money, cars, and clothes. So naturally, as a kid watching my oldest brother and every other older male live that lifestyle, made me want the same thing,” says King. “I learned at a very young age to get money.”
Compared to artists like T.I. and Lil Wayne, King is in his own realm with a unique style and undeniable swagger. His music stands out from the crowd because he values lyrics that make sense and that anyone can sing along to. One listen to KingÂ’s music and hip-hop fans will see that although he may be a rookie to the industry, his talent far exceeds his current status.
“A lot of people call themselves King of something, but I’m not claiming to be the King of anything. I’m simply King. I was born on 40th Ave and Kings Place. It was destiny and I have the talent to back up the confidence in my name. “
The SlipNslide Records On Da Grind program is credited for the launch of artist career's such as Plies, Swazy Baby and Camar aka Mr International. King has singed a non-exclusive promotional agreement to participate in the program, and hopes to garner the attention of other labels that match his style and ambition.
