(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 28, 2010 ) CLEVELAND, OH – No, it’s no typo, Slop Pop is in fact the self-proclaimed genre Cleveland rockers “Stone Relied” choose to describe the band’s unique and infectious sound on their recently released self-titled LP already available for purchase through their website, www.stonerelied.fourfour.com.
Influenced by everyone from Nirvana to the Beatles, Stone Relied is an intensely energetic band with great music and catchy lyrics, but the members could never pick a genre that really described their sound. They all agreed they were predominantly pop, but with heavy doses of rock and grunge slopped all together they couldnÂ’t just settle on Pop Rock, hence the birth of a new subgenre, Slop Pop. Stone Relied prides itself as being no nonsense or gimmicks, just straightforward Slop Pop rocking your soul and leaving you wanting more.
Formed by Ray Von Bruening III, Brian Zimmerman (from the late 90's band Anomie) along with Kevin Zimmerman (from Platinum Blue & Thunderlips), the band began as a crazy guitar and drum trio, doing nothing more than disturbing the neighbors. Soon the garage became too small to contain this powerhouse and the three friends realized they needed a solid bottom end added to their rhythm section. After several roller-coaster rides and multiple months of “what are we gonna do’s” Kevin turned to his long time friend (and former NEO-TRIP/Platinum Blue band mate) Brandon Orloski to fill in the blanks.
Stone Relied exploded onto the local scene in the spring of 2008 playing several notorious Cleveland venues such as Peabody’s, The Roc Bar, The Hi-Fi, The Garage Bar, and The Phantasy. Since then, they’ve shared the stage with several impressive acts like the 90’s rock band “Sponge.”
In May of 2009, after guitarist Brian Zimmerman left the band, they recorded the track "Butterflies" with Sam Jennings at his newly acquired Revolution Studio in Lakewood, Ohio. The band decided that another guitarist was in great need in order to fill out the sound and give it a more dynamic layer. Ray recruited younger brother Wilhelm Bruening to step in as an all-purpose guitarist.
The smoking hot 12 track self-titled LP is currently available for purchase at all live shows as well as the bands website, www.stonerelied.fourfour.com. Digital downloads will be available in March everywhere digital downloads are sold. The band says they have many more in the closet and are currently in the processes of recording the second LP planned for Spring 2011.
