(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 30, 2009 ) Spencer, IA -- The upcoming Artisans Road Trip (ART) is a wonderful opportunity for public to see working artists' studios that are located in Spencer. This coming weekend -- Oct. 2, 3 and 4 – nine Spencer artists will be opening their studios to offer a wide variety of new work for viewing and for sale at this annual event.
The Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts, at 216 6th Avenue East (formerly the Reynolds Elementary School) is a great place to start your self-guided tour. Now a teaching facility for glass and jewelry arts, CRVA holds regular classes through through the Iowa Lakes Community CollegeÂ’s Continuing Education Department. For the Artisan Road Trip the instructors will be doing some special demonstrations on the glass blowing torches. Director Tony Curiel will be on-hand to explain the process of creating neon art and demonstrate a few techniques he uses in his plasma glasswork.
