(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 28, 2009 ) SHERIDAN, Wyo.—Adding to its other accolades, Sheridan was recently named among the Top 25 Cities and Towns with the Best American Values. The selection was made by noted Today Show travel editor and best-selling travel author Peter Greenburg for Newsmax magazine. Greenburg chose communities he feels embody characteristics that distinguish American cities from those outside the country. Calling Sheridan the “real deal,” he cited its Western roots, tourism, arts, historic restoration and year-round recreational activities. He further noted the people’s values as embracing as embracing community, culture and conservation.
The editors of Newsmax recognized Sheridan for “Best Old West Spirit,” saying, “This Old West town has put its heart and soul into preserving its rich American history, and succeeded without becoming a theme park.” Sheridan has twice been named True West magazine’s Top 10 Western Towns in America, once being named #1. It has frequently been cited for outdoor recreation opportunities and received the Great Neighborhoods Award last year by the American Planning Association.
