“Ballads for Ballots 2008” is a national music video contest sponsored by HCD Research, a communications research firm headquartered in Flemington, NJ. The firm is partnering with The Tribune Company to host the contest on its mediacurves.com web site and on The Tribune Company’s The Swamp web site.
HCD Research is inviting contestants to submit an original song or song parody approximately 45-90 seconds in length in support of their political party or candidate. The first 100 qualified entries will receive $25 and become eligible for two grand prizes of $5,000 for the best Republican and Democrat video. Fox News will also be featuring the contest on its regional television stations and national web sites. Examples of the music video entries will also be played periodically on XM Radio.
Viewers will evaluate the music videos on mediacurves.com, the Tribune CompanyÂ’s website, The Swamp website, and other national media outlets. The top 15 videos for each party will be judged by a panel of noted political personalities, who will select the top three videos for each party.
The top three videos for each party will be studied by mediacurves.com panelists (a large national panel of opt in consumers) and two grand prize winners will be selected -- one for each party. Each winner will receive a $5,000 cash award.
The winning entries will be posted on mediacurves.com and other national media outlets during the last week in August.
InfamousGuitar.com’s $5,000 Online Guitar Solo contest began in May of 2008, and has already attracted hundreds of members to the site. Players of all skill levels, from beginner to semi-pro, are entering their 60-second guitar solos online for a chance to win the monthly $100 cash prize, and the annual $5,000 Grand Prize.
