In The Daily Show, Chris Rock tells of the downsides of being a standup comedian and why he envies musicians who can use the same material in every performance. As a standup comedian, Chris always has to keep audiences surprised and guessing, which explains the need for new material in every tour.
While on the show, Chris also discussed his latest film ‘2 Days in New York’. In the film, he stars with Julie Delpy as a Manhattan-based couple named Marion and Mingus, both of whom have children from prior relationships. The plot thickens as their unique yet dynamic family is jostled by the arrival of Marion’s visiting relatives.
Aside from his TV guesting, Chris also opened up to NY Times recently, saying: “I haven’t done any dirty work in a while.”
“I’m ready to curse. I’m ready to really, really be a bad boy. I’m ready to actually be Chris Rock,” he added, which could hint at a return to the stage.
But while fans of the 47-year-old comedian and actor are waiting for his next tour, they can also count down the days leading up to the release of the film ‘Grown Ups 2’, where Chris Rock will once again work with another world-famous comedian, Adam Sandler. Chris has been filming the movie since May with Sandler and the likes of Taylor Lautner, who has reportedly been added to the cast.
Despite his upcoming films, Rock admits he misses live audiences too. “It’s time for me to hit the stage of something,” he said.
