(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 02, 2012 ) Rosemont, IL -- The Akoo Theatre, formerly Rosemont Theatre, will be hosting the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Rosemont, Illinois this coming December. The holiday production will begin on the 14th of December and will run until the end of the year on December 30, 2012.
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an annual holiday musical stage show featuring The Rockettes, one of the best-known all-female dance troupe in the world. Aside from the celebrated dance group, the production also features 140 performers and boasts of lavish costumes and sets. Although the main shows are usually held at Radio City in New York, the group has began touring and bringing their shows to other prime venues in the United States. This Christmas, the shows will be available for those in Rosemont, Illinois as the group takes to the stage of the Akoo Theatre.
The 2012 production will not be just any production, though. This year, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular will celebrate its 80th anniversary as well as the 85th anniversary of the Rockettes. The production will celebrate that memorable day in 1933 when the first ever Christmas show was held.
To make this year’s production memorable enough, the Rockettes will provide audiences in Illinois an all new show that they have dubbed as ‘more spectacular than ever’. The show will feature brand new scenes, new sets, new costumes, and improved special effects. The producers of the show have promised a new finale. The Rockettes are set to perform five new numbers that will showcase their signature kicks and incredibly precise dance moves.
As always, however, they will feature favorites such as Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and the Living Nativity, but with great enhancements.
