(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 24, 2011 ) WINTER PARK, Colo.- New this winter at YMCA of the Rockies' Snow Mountain Ranch an expanded yurt village offers rustic adventures. Yurts come fully furnished with queen and twin beds, tables and chairs, microwave, and mini-fridge. Each yurt can sleep up to six people and pets are invited to join in the adventure. Guests may need to snowshoe in when snow is high and should pack warmly because yurts are not heated. For a more traditional stay lodge rooms, cabins, and vacation homes are also available.
During the day there are 5,100 acres to explore. A full service service Nordic Center provide guests apparel, equipment, and lessons for over 60 km of cross country ski and snowshoe trails. Some trails have been expanded for use by canine companions as well. Nearby an ice skating pavilion and sledding and tubing hills are open for more winter fun. Guests can warm up with a cup of cocoa by a roaring fire and then head over to a game of broomball or create something in the craft and design center. Sombrero Stables operates hot cocoa and dinner horse-drawn sleigh rides.
