New Website Presents PlayStation Network Status Around the Clock

(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 07, 2011 ) Ann Arbor, MI – It was reported on the official PlayStation Blog by Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director, Corporate Communications and Social Media, that last month’s problem preventing customers to connect to the PlayStation Network was caused by a “bug” in the “clock functionality incorporated in the system.”

Here are some of the collateral problems that the “bug” created:

* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.

* When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F).”

* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install
trophies. Please exit your game.”

*When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”

* Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

ItÂ’s been a rough two months for the PlayStation and services. April saw hackers create havoc. And, last monthÂ’s bug attack sent Sony reeling. The timing could not have been worse for the Japanese conglomerate. The tsunami of PR and economic chaos will bring Sony to the brink global embarrassment days before one of the biggest events in video gaming industry at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles.

PlayStation Network users are probably wondering about their “Welcome Back” package. When the system comes back online, PSN users will be able to download the free games and services that are part of Sony’s special package.

As anyone can imagine, there are a lot of angry PlayStation Network Status gamers out there in the world. Yet, the threats of moving to Xbox 360 are still on hold.

The big argument heard is that PS3 remains free while Xbox 360 requires a yearly fee of $50.00. We would like to know your thoughts on this? How many users have actually bought an Xbox 360 as a result of the PlayStation Network Status downtime?
