(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, February 18, 2016 ) Atascadero, CA -- Boy Scouts of America was incorporated in 1910, and for over one hundred years, they have been helping young men live by the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Boy Scouts got their start when an Englishman, Robert Baden-Powell, a military hero who served in Africa, wrote a survival manual for soldiers and discovered that young English boys were using the manual to teach themselves survival skills. He rewrote the book especially for boys and took twenty-two boys to Brownsea Island on a campout to test the ideas. The camp was a success, and scouting began. Later, William Boyce brought Scouting to America.
Camping has always been an important part of Boy Scouts, and there are hundreds of official Boy Scout campgrounds, although many troops venture out into other wilderness camping areas around the country. Many Boy Scouts enjoy singing around the camp fire, and the songs that were popular at the Tanah Keeta Scout Reservation were compiled into a book and later a website to give Scouts a place to find new songs.
