(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, December 20, 2015 ) Paris, France -- While some companies have had hundreds of fraudulent reviews flagged and removed by online retailer Amazon.com, Case&More CEO Andrea Roncolini is proud that no reviews of his company's products have been removed—because they're all real.
Earlier this year, Amazon filed suit against more than 1,000 reviewers who sell their services on freelance site Fiverr.com. Many of those reviewers offered to post a positive review written by the customer in exchange for a payment. Not only does that violate Amazon's terms of service, it's also bad business, Roncolini said. "I suppose I understand the temptation to get positive reviews," he said, "but, honestly, the risk is so huge that I don't see the benefit. It's so much better to put out a product that people really love. If you do that, you don't need to worry about finding reviewers—they'll find you."
Case&More creates high-quality cellphone cases and accessories, and the quality of the materials the company uses is a selling point. There is also the danger of being found out to worry about, and the consequences of paying for sham reviews far outweighs any benefit from them, he said. "If a customer hasn't bought from you before, he or she has to trust your reputation. Positive reviews help, but the damage a company's reputation takes when it's caught paying for those positive reviews is difficult, if not impossible, to recover from."
Roncolini said he's proud that reviews of Case&More products come from verified purchasers. That not only keeps with the spirit of Amazon's review policy, it means that customers can trust that the reviews are unbiased and accurate. "We want people to be satisfied—really satisfied—with the products we offer," he said. "If a customer has a problem with one of our products, we want to know so that we can fix it. Our customer service is one of the reasons people buy from us again and again. And without honest reviews, that would be much harder."
