Long popular for the authenticity and flavor of their Mexican cuisine, the availability of the lunch specials is guaranteed to attract more customers who want something different besides the usual lunch meals.
"When we first opened up our Mexican restaurant in Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge, we immediately attracted customers who were looking for authentic Mexican dishes," recounts Heriberto Galindo, who is the Chef at Mexican Gourmet. "And we noticed that many of our patrons during the lunch hour want more variety in the meals, and so we came up with our lunch specials.
The lunch specials at the Mexican Gourmet are not always available for the whole day. For example, the latest Port Coquitlam Fresh Mexican Lunch Bowl is only available from 11 AM to 3 PM.
"Our Fresh Lunch Bowl is very popular, as it's a healthy dish because it's glutamine-free," reveals Galindo. "Customers in Maple Ridge can choose among beef, chicken, or pork for their meat, and then they can pick two sides from red rice, beans or house salad, homemade pickled onions, and salsa."
There's also a vegetarian version of the Fresh Lunch Bowl, and of course there are other tasty options in the lunch menu. Many customers start their meals with the Chicken Pozole, which is a traditional soup with Mexican rice, hominy corn, spices, and fresh lettuce.
"The Chicken Pozole is quite comforting, and then some patrons continue on with the Chimichanga, which is a favorite dish in the northern part of Mexico," says Galindo. "Meat, beans, rice, salsa, and cheese are all stuffed into a crisply rolled wheat tortilla, and then we serve it with a homemade creamy avocado sauce for dipping plus crispy tortilla chips and a side dish chosen by the customer."
The wet tacos are also a perennial favorite, with beef, chicken, or pork inside 4 rolled white corn tortillas. It's covered by mole, roja or salsa verde, depending on the choice of our customer, and then Galindo tops it all off with fresh salsa, cheese, Mexican crema, and freshly chopped lettuce.
"One of the reasons why people love our Mexican food is that we cook everything from scratch, and we pick only the freshest ingredients in the market to create our authentic dishes," reveals Galindo.
