Naneki is a Hawaiian word, which translates to "Nancy". The Naneki Ukulele is made of exotic woods, including mahogany, rosewood and sapele (a large tree native to tropical Africa), with die cast machine heads which facilitate precise tuning and string tension.
"I chose the name "Naneki" for my wife," says Mr. Youngs. "I wanted a Hawaiian name, as this is a traditionally Hawaiian instrument, and naming the ukulele after my wife was the first idea that came to mind. "Naneki" means "Nancy". It stuck, and now we're proud to offer the Naneki Ukulele, a high quality version of the soprano ukulele with several useful items included."
Mr. Youngs comes from a lengthy musical background, beginning with his own record label and production company in the 1960s, following through to membership in a number of bands through the 1970s and 1980s. He chose the ukulele for SpunkySales's first instrument launch based on a combination of observations of the rising popularity of the ukulele in general, along with the simplicity of the instrument's play. The ukulele is a proven introductory instrument, and well known the world over.
