All interaction with the smartphone is done through a direct, wired connection, with no need for batteries and no need for a battery powered wireless connection, such as Bluetooth, with the phone.
"We went for simplicity," says Director of PR, Courtney Jones. "Sometimes that's the best solution, and in this case it was. When dealing with technology complexity isn't always the best way, and what we were finding was that users of typical selfie sticks were running into issues with either the batteries in the stick itself losing charge, or the wireless connection failing. With our new stick we've eliminated those issues."
The Selfie Snap Plus is a second generation selfie stick (called officially a "monopod" or "photo viewer") that adds improvements to design based on feedback and lessons learned with earlier models. Previous, battery powered sticks experienced issues with reliability. Wireless connections, such as Bluetooth, presented its own issues, and the solution was to create a fully wired stick. The Selfie Snap Plus connects directly to the smartphone's headphone jack to send control signals directly to the phone. This eliminates the need for batteries or establishing a wireless connection.
