But they are extra pumped for their next big job: providing signage for the Special Olympics 2015 Summer Games Opening Ceremony in Downtown Los Angeles.
This year's event marks the first time the Special Olympics Summer Games will be held in the United States since 1999. The previous US-hosted games took place in Raleigh, North Carolina. And this year, Los Angeles is set and ready to welcome more than 7,000 Special Olympics athletes from 170 nations to compete in 25 Olympic-type sports. The Games are a world stage for the athletes to demonstrate on the playing field their courage, determination and spirit of sportsmanship.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at the National History Museum on Exposition Boulevard. Step and Repeat LA will be constructing an 8'h x 36'w media wall. Much like a traditional step and repeat, a media wall's fabrication is slightly more involved. Made up of a series of 4' wide wood panels, the team will bring the panels together to form the full 36' length. Then, a seamless print will be applied, which will display sponsor logos for the event. Once complete, the media wall will serve as a glitzy focal point where athletes, stars, and fellow attendees can stop and pose for photos.
The 2015 Games will take place on July 25th thru August 2nd, 2015. Sports featured in this year's competition include aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, soccer, and many other summer sports involving 7,000 mentally and physically handicapped athletes from around the world.
