(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, June 24, 2015 ) Lewis Center, OH -- There's a new upstart company that hopes to take a bite out of the colored pencil market.
Colorolio, located in Lewis Center, Ohio, is creating a set of wax based colored pencils intended for both the professional and casual artist. Secured in a hinged metal case, colorolio's set of 24 colored pencils is what the company hopes will be the first of many creators' tools designed for the modern artist.
Colorolio has designed their pencils with a round barrel to ensure hours of comfortable use. Additionally, colorolio's pencils use poplar wood for the casing to give the pencil added strength. Many competitors' products use bass wood; a lighter, inferior wood prone to breaking. Colorolio uses lead in its pencils that are artist quality guaranteeing a smooth lay down of color.
"We believe there is a demographic in the market that is not being fully addressed," states Terry Hardcastle, Creator-in-Chief at colorolio. "We wanted to bring a more modern, tech-savy vibe to our product. Some of the best pencil artists are naturalists at heart, rendering beautiful illustrations of birds, flowers . . . organic representations from life. Still, there is a sub-set that wants to draw other cool stuff. Anime, Comics, Pop Culture Icons . . . our product is designed with their interests in mind."
Colorolio is starting small. "We've only got one product for now," says Hardcastle. "We want to get this right, then expand our brand's line."
History is, of course, replete with stories of great companies starting small. The garages of Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos gave birth to Apple Computer and Amazon.com respectively.
Does Hardcastle have a famous garage in his future?
"Not a garage. Maybe a dinette table," jokes Hardcastle.
Colorolio's product launch is expected in August, 2015.
