(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, March 10, 2015 ) Nashville, TN -- The world's premiere classical Chinese performing arts company returns to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville with a collection of their best programs from the last four years - upcoming Nashville events May 1 - 2, 2015.
Shen Yun was founded in New York in 2006, with a mission of reviving the true spirit of traditional Chinese culture, which was all but destroyed during Mao's infamous Cultural Revolution.
Since its inception, the company has become an international sensation and drawn world-class talent from around the world. Among it's artists are winners of top international competitions in dance and music, as well as accomplished choreographers and composers.
The company's dancers, musicians, and singers now tour the globe every year, performing in some 100 cities. Every year it is an all-new production.
A signature feature of Shen Yun is its high-tech, digitally animated backdrops that coordinate with the costumes, lighting, and even the storyline, choreography, and original musical score of every dance.
The company's orchestra features a combination of Chinese and Western instruments; it is the only orchestra that blends both sets of instruments as its permanent members. The hundreds of elaborate hand-made costumes and dramatic techniques of classical Chinese dance fill the stage with color with energy.
With two shows - May 1 through May 2 - at Tennessee Performing Arts Center - TPAC, Shen Yun will bring to life ancient Chinese civilization through classical Chinese dance and music in an exhilarating production.
"If heaven is the way we saw it tonight, count me in," said Academy Award-nominated producer Nathaniel Kahn after seeing Shen Yun.
The performance "speaks not only to my intellect, but it speaks to my heart," said Omega Medina, former senior manager of Classical Awards for the GRAMMY Awards. "It was a complete edifying experience of the human spirit."
It is this spirit of purity and goodness that Shen Yun carries to hundreds of thousands of audience members each year, performing in cities like Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Sydney and even Nashville.
