Music Winners Announcement

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, December 25, 2014 ) Los Angeles -- Popular Haitian singer BELO has won the inaugural World Citizen Artists Peace award for music. He wrote the winning song 'Citizen of the World' in March 2013. This was just over a year before the new movement and not-for-profit organization World Citizen Artists launched in June 2014, on World Refugee Day.

On receiving news of his winning, the talented recording artist thanked Valerie Won Lee, founder and president of World Citizen Artists, and all the members of the movement saying: 'I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the other finalists: the goal was not to win a prize, but to promote peace in the world.'

Both BELO and World Citizen Artists work creatively to highlight social issues. WCA invites contributions from artists around the world to celebrate international issues and commemorate global events.

The music prize is one category in the WCA Peace competition. An album of the top ten musical entries is published and available on the World Citizen Artists 'Peace' Album, and an extract of celebrity Nomfusi's announcement of the award is on the World Citizen Artists Youtube Channel.
Visual artist category finalist works are on display in Belgravia Gallery, nominated top gallery 2013 in Mayfair, until January 12th, 2015.

World Citizen Artists established the competition together with Playing For Change Foundation, a worldwide music foundation, operated in association with world-class musicians and producers, which assists children to learn music; Belgravia Gallery, named Gallery of the Year 2013 and One of Europe's leading art galleries, it regularly features the work of renowned artists and celebrities; and issuu, one of the world's leading digital publishing platforms, which gives publishers tools to deliver over 5 billion page views each month to more than 80 million readers.
