Sciatica, Slipped Disc Pain and Back Pain: Chiropractor Reading Berkshire
(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, December 17, 2014 ) Reading, UK -- The inaugural Reading Santa Run was run on Sunday 14th December. Reflex Chiropractic were proud to be one of the events sponsors that started and finished in the towns historic Forbury Gardens. A 5km run around the town centre attracted over 1000 runners, all wearing their fantastic Santa suits, and the route took them around the town centre and town the river and canal sides.
Andrew Green, Reading Chiropractor and Clinic Director said, "It is a privelage for Reflex Chiropractic to be sponsoring this fantastic community health event, especially as the proceeds go towards such fantastic local charities". The two main charities benefitting from this years run are The Duchess of Kent Hospice and Alexander Devine - A Children's Hospice Service.
The Duchess of Kent Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, aiming to help people live as well as possible with the effects of their illness by offering care, symptom management and support by a team of health care professionals.
Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service was founded in 2007 with the aim of providing a dedicated children's hospice service for all children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses in Berkshire and beyond. They currently fund Alexander's Nurses who provide quite unique specialised care and respite by regularly supporting families in their own homes. On November 14th 2013 they launched their capital campaign to raise £5m over 2 years to build Berkshire's first Children's Hospice.
Duchess of Kent Hospice and Alexander Devine are the event's main beneficiaries. 80% of all money raised will be split between them with the remaining 20% going to other local Rotary Club of Reading Charities.
The blend of local community, health and exercise meant that it was the perfect event for Reflex Chiropractic to get involved in as explained by Andrew Green. "At Reflex Chiropractic we are passionate about educating and helping as many people in our local community as possible. Everyone knows that their is an epidemic of back pain, neck pain and headaches in the UK, and most of us also realise that we are too sedentary in our lifestyles now. Activity is very important to maintaining good health and wellbeing and so this event has been a brilliant way of persuading more people out and about. We have just seen some super fast Santa's and also some who were very happy to power walk their way around the course. When we heard about the event we were very keen to be involved!"
Andrew & Laura Green were joined at the event by their fellow practitioner Zoe Lofthouse. Having bumped into quite a number of former & current patients, they also chatted to Mayor of Reading, Tony Jones. Tony was delighted by the support and the size of the turnout for the run. Hopefully this is just the start for the Reading Santa Run and the event will go from strength to strength and we will see the numbers of runners continue to rise and even more money raised for good causes.
