The pair met while earning their undergraduate degrees in Dance at the University of North Texas. Fast forward 11 years and Fling Fashions was born with the mission to help women achieve the latest looks on a dancer's budget.
"Having a taste for high-fashion on the low-dollar budget of a dancer made shopping tricky", says co-founder, Julia Nova. "I know there are plenty of women out there with the same predicament, and we want to help women look great and on trend without wasting money."
While the Fling Fashions blog offers shopping tips and affordable accessories to their followers, the company has a bigger vision. The former professional dancers, one a Modern Dancer and the other a Ballerina, want to bring more exposure to the dance world by fusing it with the world of fashion. The two regularly use as Dancers models in their fashion shoots, highlighting the dancers' unique skills to breathe life into their apparel.
"Our ultimate goal is to have a public fashion show where local dance companies showcase our line while promoting themselves," says Kate Buck. "With arts funding declining in state of Texas, we feel it's important to do what we can as dancers to keep our art accessible."
