Brian Kristensen is drawing attention to himself

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, April 10, 2014 ) Søndervang, Denmark -- In his darkest days, Brian Kristensen discovered a hidden talent – and he wants to share it with you.

Kristensen, a software developer in Denmark, became very depressed about four year ago. His job was stressful and the process of trying to make ends meet with a wife and four children became overwhelming.

Instead of withdrawing into his depression, Kristensen used art to relieve the strain of day-to-day living. “I always loved to draw faces with charcoal and pencils,” he explains, “So I decided to become more serious about this medium.

“It was a way to express myself and relive stress. And after a while, I became quite good at it.”

Kristensen’s specialty is portraits of old artists and comedians, like Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. Last year, he opened up his own art shop in Denmark but business was slow and he was forced to close it down.

Kristensen now markets his artwork, which includes many different forms, through his website. The site includes an extensive gallery of his work and a blog.

Kristensen would very much like to continue creating these unique portraits but it’s difficult unless he’s able to sell his work. So he’s making a worldwide appeal through an Indiegogo campaign.

“This is an opportunity for people to support a living artist,” he says. “The dead ones don’t need it.”

Art lovers who would like to support Kristensen’s work can make donations through the Indiegogo page. The page also includes a video of him in action, creating a black-and-white portrait that is competed in less than three minutes, thanks to time-lapse imaging.

Depending on their contribution levels, backers can receive original signed works of art in different sizes, based on photographs sent to him. One of his pieces can be had for as little as 100 Euros.

“This is what I really love and these pieces of art make a nice addition to any home,” Kristensen says. “Plus, you have the satisfaction of supporting an artist in times of need.”

For further information, visit the Indiegogo page or Kristensen’s official website.
