(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, December 02, 2013 ) London, UK--A recent internet marketing survey by BrightLocal shows small and medium sized businesses spend on average 46 percent of their advertising budgets on online or mobile marketing. The survey – which included hundreds of business professionals in over 50 industries – found about 55 percent of respondents felt online marketing is a more effective way to reach new leads and customers than offline marketing.
Key findings from the SMB internet marketing survey were that 68 percent of respondents find Internet marketing “very effective” or “quite effective” in attracting customers to their business, 60 percent of the surveyed small- and medium-sized businesses have a mobile-ready/mobile-optimized website and 21 percent of respondents said their organization plans to increase their Internet marketing budgets over the next 12 months.
“The survey results show how important digital strategies - especially inbound marketing – are to companies,” said Mr Willis from Marketing Grin. Inbound marketing relies on organisations creating engaging content, which draws users to the organization and their products or services. “For example, a company’s Twitter postings could lead users to the company’s website, engage them in conversations, and draw their attention to the company’s offerings.”
He continued, “Digital marketing is essential in today’s advertising landscape, as this survey’s results show. Inbound marketing is a key part of that. Today’s users are on the web for work, for school, and for recreation – and when they’re on the web, they’re flooded with information and advertisements. When your company offers engaging, proactive content, you are able to cut through the noise and connect directly with customers.”
Seventy-seven percent of survey respondents said mobile and mobile marketing are important to the future of their business. Mr Willis said, “The ability to use web-based inbound marketing is essential as smartphones become integrated into the lives of consumers. Nearly everyone has a smartphone and uses it to check email, look at social media, and surf the web. As a marketer, you absolutely must be able to engage consumers where they are – and they are on smartphones. Inbound marketing through social media, mobile-accessible website content, blogs, emails, strategic use of keywords, and other methods are the way to reach audiences who are on their smartphones often.”
