(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, July 29, 2013 ) Calgary, Canada -- On Wednesday, chief White House photographer Pete Souza announced he joined instagram, but tweeted that he would only be uploading photos to the social media app that he has taken with his smartphone, but didn’t say which handheld device he would be using.
The content from Souza’s Instagram account will be different from the White House’s Flickr account.
Just in the first few hours on the Facebook-owned platform yesterday, Souza had already gained thousands of followers. Today, he has over 18,000 just over a day after he announced joining the network, with only 11 photos posted to the account.
Souza matters to many American citizens, as he has deep access to the Obama administration and its operations. For example, he took the iconic picture of the men in Situation Room awaiting news to hear on the raid that lead to the death of Osama Bin Laden.
Souza’s Instagram account will more than likely be more pedestrian than it is professional, seeing as he has posted pictures of his complimentary fruit aboard Air Force One, and the Seal of the President, which may be appealing to Instagram’s younger audience.
