Pierce College, East LA College and West LA College are top of the class for on the list of the Top 5 Community Colleges in Los Angeles, based on their graduation and transfer rates, a proven and popular rating method.
For millions of adults and those leaving high school, community college is an attractive pathway to better career options. Community colleges, sometime called junior colleges, technical colleges or city colleges, are generally attended for two years in order for students to gain certificates, diplomas and associate’s degrees.

At the top of the list, Los Angeles Pierce College was a clear standout. It is widely recognized and celebrated for being one of the top transfer schools in the district, with 36 per cent of Pierce College students successfully transferring to a four-year institution.
East Los Angeles College also boasts a high transfer rate with 34.6 per cent. This is credited to the college’s reputation as a diverse institution with an unwavering dedication to helping its students prepare for admission into a four-year institution.
Placing a close third was West Los Angeles College, with its large campus of almost 12,000 students. WLAC is set apart by its variety of associate degrees, transfer degrees, certificates and programs, which has resulted in a transfer rate of 31.3 per cent. In fact, more than 60 per cent of associate degree graduates transfer to four-year institutions.
