(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, February 21, 2013 ) London, U.K -- Dejected fans who think that the anonymity that comes from the internet can save them from their favorite celebrities may have a rude awakening, as did one fan who was admonished by Kobe Bryant following the fans homophobic insults toward another fan.
Bryant, who has over 1 million followers on Twitter, reprimanded the fan who tweeted “You're gay” to another fan.
The response to the insult was posted on Sunday via Bryant’s Twitter feed, wherein Bryant noted "Just letting you know@PacSmoove @pookeo9 that using "your gay" as a way to put someone down ain't ok! #notcool delete that out ur vocab."
Bryant had previously been fined $100,000 in April for using a gay slur in a nationally televised game, which NBA commissioner David Stern noted as “offensive and inexcusable.”
The incident of Bryant's fine came after he was given a technical foul in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. Bryant yelled at a referee Bennie Adams before muttering a homophobic slur while sitting on the bench. The episode had been caught on camera during the TNT's national telecast. Bryant apologized the next day, stating he did not intend to offend anyone.
When Bryant was reminded of his own incident of the April incident, Bryant responded quickly, stating: "exactly! That wasn't cool and was ignorant on my part. I own it and learn from it and expect the same from others."
Bryant did not take the time to address the Twitter situation following Monday's practice. Instead staying focused on the team's task at hand of leading the Lakers into the playoffs this season, following an abysmal start.
