Young Woman Finds Biological Parents Through Social Media reports Uber Humor

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, February 19, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- In a story that illustrates why social media should never be underestimated, a young women set out, and succeeded to find one-or-both of her biological parents through Facebook.

Jenessa Simons shared a photo of herself holding up a sign she had made, comprised of the information she had regarding her biological parents. Two days after posting the picture, her birth mother reached out to her.

Simons' search had originally begun when she was 18 years old. She had to wait three years before submitting to the state, and she decided to instead try her luck with the social media site while she waited. Prompted by the success of the “1 million likes for a puppy” Facebook effort, Janessa felt she might have a chance as well.

Her photo included the information she knew of her parents including: her birthday, hospital, parents' dates of birth and contact information. They were 16 at the time, and they named her Whitney. The image spread quickly, with more than 14,000 likes and 160,763 shares at time of writing.

Simons announced on Tuesday that she had found her birth mother, and the contact information of her birth father as well. A high school friend of the two had contacted the biological mother, who reached out to the 21-year-old.

There are currently a handful of pages on Facebook that are geared toward those seeking to reach out to birth parents. Simons hopes that other swill use the social network to attempt to reconnect with loved ones. She posted on Wednesday that she thanks all those who shared her photo and her story.

Please, please continue to use this page to talk, to connect, and to build a community of birth parents and adoptees who want to come together, for whatever purpose ...
