Winehouse Foundation Ball Attracts Stars In Numbers reports Camden Town

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, November 25, 2012 ) London, U.K -- The Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball, held in honor of the legendary singer, attracted stars from around the country and was highlighted by a performance by former X-Factor contestant, Ella Henderson.

The Ball’s profits will go to help the homeless, children’s hospices, and to fund drug counsellors. The Ball was put on by friend Mark Ronson, who had been close to Amy before she tragically passed away at the age of 27 from a narcotics overdose.

Amy’s parents, Mitch and Janis, were elegantly dressed for the occasion and seemed to have a rather positive attitude in light of the circumstance. Mitch Winehouse invited Ella Henderson to perform at the ball and afterwards, Ella tweeted, “A huge thank u to @mitchwinehouse it was an honour and a pleasure to sing for the #amywinehousefoundation.”

Other stars at the Ball included film director and former boyfriend, Reg Traviss, actress Patsy Palmer, actress Barbara WIndsor, singer Paloma Faith, Carol Vorderman, and Kimberley Garner. Everyone was in high-spirits at the event held at The Dorchester, London, celebrating the life of such an influential artist.

It was announced at the Ball that marking Amy’s 31st birthday in two years time will be a concert and the unveiling of a statue in her hometown of Camden.

Since her death, The Amy WInehouse Foundation has raised over 1 million euros. Her former husband Jake Blake Fielder-Civil, who she married in 2006, has admitted to introducing Amy to the hard drug scene, but was in prison during the star’s death. Fielder Civil said in response to his wife’s death, “It seems disrespectful to Amy to assume she was so impressionable she would take them without making the decision to do so herself. She was actually very strong and independent.”

Mitch Winehouse says that his daughter had kicked her hard drug habit at the time of her death, and the toxicology report indicated that Winehouse indeed did not have any illegal substances in her system when she died.
