(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, October 30, 2012 ) Rosemont, IL—After a series of large hits and a couple of years’ hiatus, the Who is officially back in the United States to bring back some of their classic tracks. The remaining members Simon Townshend and Roger Daltrey will be arriving in Rosemont, Illinois, for a two-night performance on November 29–30, 2012, Thursday and Friday. The gates open before 7:30 p.m.
The tour officially began last November 1, 2012, in Florida. After Illinois, they’re off to Nashville, Tennessee; New York, New York; Newark, New Jersey; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Uncasville, Connecticut. They will then take a short break before resuming on January 28, 2013, in Anaheim, California. The final stop is at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, on February 26, 2013.
Aside from Townshend and Daltrey, Pino Palladino will be joining as bass and Zak Starkey as a drummer. Frank Simes is appointed as the musical director.
The most recent tour will act as tribute to Quadrophenia as they play some of the classic tracks in the album, such as “The Real Me,” “5:15,” “Love Reign O’er Me,” “Zoot Suit,” “Hi-Heel Sneakers,” “Doctor Jimmy,” “Helpless Dancer,” “I’ve Had Enough,” “Bell Boy,” “Joker James,” and “Four Faces.”
Quadrophenia was first released in 1973, placing second in the U.S. Billboard Pop Albums and UK Chart Album. It was re-released a couple of times after, including in 2011, where it emerged 110 in U.S. Billboard 200. The singles “The Real Me,” “Love, Reign O’er Me,” and “5:15” were also well received by music fans in Europe and North America. It also reached gold in UK and United States in 1973 and platinum in the United States in 1993. Quadrophenia shows the brilliance of Townshend who composed all the songs in the album.
The tour will also be a fantastic reunion of the surviving members after they have pursued some solo projects. In one of the press conferences, Daltrey was quoted as saying, “[Being with the Townshend is like being in a] war zone. . . . Something happens on stage.”
The Who is an iconic UK rock band that started in 1964 with Daltrey, Townshend, Keith Moon, John Entwistle, and Kenny Jones. All throughout their careers, they have sold more than 100 million all over the world and garnered over 10 platinum and more than 15 gold. They have received 5 multiplatinum in the United States. The biggest-selling album so far is Who Are You.
The Who was one of the great performers who graced the London Olympics arena for the closing ceremony last August 12, 2012, singing hits like “My Generation,” “See Me, Feel Me,” and “Baba O’Riley.”
