In recent months there has been a spike in women who prefer to make their “classic” look permanent. Types of permanent makeup include tattooed eyeliner, eyebrows, and lip-liner. More and more, women are seeking these tattoos in an effort to effortlessly and eternally look beautiful.
What do the consumers of these services say about the trend? Joani Donovan from Toledo said “You get up, you shower, and you go, I'm not spending extra time in the morning putting on makeup. I'm beating my husband getting dressed." She recently had work done herself, having had permanent eyeliner applied by a tattoo artist. However, “tattoo” is not the way most like to refer to this trend. Many prefer to call it permanent cosmetics or micro pigmentations.
Angie Mougey, owner of Transitions Salon & Spa in Bellevue, Ohio stated her client’s appreciation for the service and supports it herself. In a statement she said. "Once you get older, you don't see as well, your skin is looser, and it becomes more difficult to apply makeup. It becomes harder to get your brows on straight every time."
These procedures are usually performed by cosmetologists and aestheticians. The methods they use are fairly simple and most women claim they are not very painful. Eyebrow pigmentation consists of tracing the shape onto the desired area and creating hair like strokes to fill it in naturally.
These procedures vary in pricing as eyebrows usually run between $450 and $650. Getting the much desired look of full lips cost over $750. And the most sought after pigmentation, permanent eyeliner, costs upwards of $475.
