(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 08, 2012 ) New York, NY -- Aliens Colonial Marines is the upcoming first-person shooter video game based on the characters and creatures in the popular movie franchise Aliens. It is developed by Gearbox Software and is published under Sega. The game itself takes place after the Alien 3 movie, and follows Winter, a Colonial Marine that is part of a search and rescue team sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco in search of Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the missing marines who were dispatched to LV-426.
Players will have a chance to battle the xenomorphs using iconic weapons seen in the movie. Gearbox Software also developed new xenomorph characters exclusively to add to the lineup. In the Aliens Colonial Marines game, not only will the players have to deal with the sneak attacks from alien enemies, they must also fight human enemies in the form of Weyland-Yutani commandos and mercenaries.
The long awaited Aliens Colonial Marines game took many years to complete. It was first going to be published by Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts for PS2 back in 2001, but was cancelled. After Sega purchased the rights in 2006 it was again delayed for many years. The wait is finally over, the Aliens Colonial Marines release date is set for March 31, 2012.
