In 2012, Myths and Mountains explores the flavors of the world
INCLINE VILLAGE, NEV. – In 2012, experiential tour operator Myths and Mountains offers a host of trips designed to help travelers experience cultures through their food. Myths and Mountains tours are designed to create lifelong memories, and give clients an intimate look at the culture and history of the places they visit. For its culinary tours, the company works closely with chefs and cultural leaders to provide depth of experience rarely found through guided adventure travel.
India Culinary Tour
In much of the United States, even adventurous eaters lump "Indian food" into one broad category. In India, though, the cuisine is as diverse and varied as the culture and geography of the subcontinent itself.
That diversity of experience is exactly what experiential tour operator Myths and Mountains hopes to explore with a new culinary tour for 2012. Travelers who embark on the 20-day tour will experience each of IndiaÂ’s unique flavors, from the Mughalai cuisine of the North to the exotic Mopillah dishes of the South.
Throughout this whirlwind tour, they will visit bustling cities like Calcutta, Chennai, and will tour cultural and historical sites like the towering Sri Meenakshi Temple, which is one of the most impressive in Asia. They will tour the spice plantations of Thekkady, and explore the regionÂ’s transportation waterways by houseboat. In Cochin, they will experience the foods and traditions of IndiaÂ’s Jewish and Christian minorities.
Each nightÂ’s meals are prepared by some of the best chefs in India, many of whom are the descendants of the very chefs that first discovered the countryÂ’s best flavors generations ago.
Taste the wines of Chile
Myths and MountainsÂ’ eight day tour of ChileÂ’s wine country gives travelers a chance to experience the best wineries in the southern hemisphere. Just a few hours south of the capitol city of Santiago, ChileÂ’s central region has produced distinctive wines for centuries. Travelers with Myths and Mountains will have the opportunity to tour more than a half dozen wineries in person, hear from the vintners themselves and taste the finest flavors South American wine has to offer. The tour whirls through many of the countryÂ’s best wine regions, including the Colchagua Wine Valley, which was named the Best World Wine Valley by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. They will visit the Mediterranean-inspired Valparaiso and SantiagoÂ’s famous bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista.
Enjoy the estancia experience
This 11-day tour is specially designed for couples, but appeals to anyone who enjoys the finer things in life. Travelers who choose this tour will not only experience the best in Argentine food and wine, but will stay at some of the countryÂ’s most beautiful estates.
The experience begins in the capital city of Buenos Aires, where travelers will enjoy guided food and wine tastings, historical tours, and tango lessons. From there, they will fly to the northern region of Salta to visit the countryÂ’s vast plantation-style ranches, or estancias.
Myths and Mountains travelers are valued guests at the estancias. They will tour vineyards and meet with vintners, eat specially prepared meals made from local crops and livestock, and even ride with Argentine cowboys, or gauchos.
