(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 01, 2012 ) ESTES PARK, Colo.- YMCA of the Rockies is proud to host a “Concert of Hope” performed by Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda. The performance, which will include song, dance, and colorful Ugandan costumes, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6 at 7PM in the Estes Park Center Hyde Chapel.
The choir is composed of 21 children and teens ages 9-15 and is currently on a tour in the U.S. hoping to raise awareness of the plight of 2,000,000 children in Uganda who are parentless as a result of war and disease. Funds raised help provide houses, food, clothing, and education for these children. The mission of Watoto is very basic: Rescue a ChildÂ…Raise a LeaderÂ…Rebuild a Nation.
Tuesday’s “Concert of Hope” will last approximately 75 minutes and be followed by a Love Offering and the sale of hand-made African products.
“Hyde Chapel is excited to host the Watoto children’s choir for the second time. Watoto visited the YMCA of the Rockies in 2009 and their lively performance of dance and song was both inspirational and moving,” says YMCA of the Rockies Chaplain, Bill Huth. “We look forward to having them here on March 6th and encourage the surrounding communities to join us in supporting Uganda and the Watoto cause: raising awareness for the plight of 2 million children in Uganda who are left parentless as a result of war and disease.”
