The Blue Water Traveler featured The Youth Music Company in February in the Michigan Musicians column.
The Young Musicians Community is a non-profit organization that supports a band called 3rd Degree Burns where young musicians gain the opportunity to play. Members of 3rd Degree Burns not only gain the necessary experience to become successful musicians, but they become a part of something even bigger.
Burns explains, “Third Degree Burns shares a commitment to the local community performing in as many benefits as possible to raise money for foundations, school functions or specific families in need. We nurture the idea of "giving back", encouraging the youth members to experience the satisfaction of community service as an ordained goal for the program.”
Like most non- profit organizations, The Young MusicianÂ’s Community and 3rd Degree Burns, are funded primarily by donations received throughout the year, and by their annual fundraiser. This year tickets will be $5.00 and be available for purchase at the door, on the night of the fundraiser. Doors open at 6:30 and the band will play from 7:00-10:00.
The vision for The Young MusiciansÂ’ Community is to develop more programs to teach additional skills, such as; art, photography, graphic design, marketing the band, and of course to continue to nurture the development of these aspiring musicians as they grow into socially aware adults.
