(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 18, 2012 ) United Kingdom – The Newtown Retirement Village is the second of five alternative care homes to open in Birmingham. ExtraCare Charitable Trust is working closely with Birmingham County Council and is building a series of retirement villages which will offer a diverse range of activities and care and support in a fun community for the over 55s.
ExtraCare Charitable Trust works on a philosophy that older people should be provided with opportunities to live a healthy, active and independent lifestyle. Creating villages where residents can enjoy exciting activities and engage with family and friends whilst building a community is the first steps towards making alternative care homes available around the country.
With over 30 ExtraCare retirement villages already built, Pannel Croft Village is the latest edition. The village will open in early 2013 and will provide 180 one and two bedroom apartments for over 200 local residents over the age of 55.
As well as comfortable homes complete with balcony, the villages will provide flexible care, security and health and leisure facilities for all residents. A fitness suite and gym, hairdressers and beauty salons, library, village shop and greenhouse amongst other facilities will be found in the grounds for residents looking to engage in independent or group activities.
