(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, April 07, 2017 ) Stone Mountain, Georgia -- Why does Peace Garden Park Amphitheater have such a strong interest in ensuring that the legacy of Tupac Shakur? It is simple, the park is the original location founded by Afenie Shakur, mother of the famed rapper, who owned a 20,000 square foot facility and park named Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts which is located in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The park had a statue of Tupac Shakur but now it is a cross-shaped fountain pool without any water flowing and the pipes that helped the statue remain erected. After Afenie Shakur passed away in May of 2016, the estate decided to take the statue and the remaining memorabilia. The only thing that remains are pavilions, the bricks purchased by famous stars that include Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Barry White, Eminem, and of course the park itself which needs a new landscaping design to become a fledgling tourist attraction again.

The new owners of the facility developed a relationship with the Shakur family and pledged to honor both the mother and son. The owners of the facility are a long time real estate investor James "Jim" Burnett and his wife Faye who are both 2016 recipients of President Obama's Lifetime Achievement Award. The couple was honored in January 2017 at the Georgia State Capitol along with others and a notable Georgia celebrity Palmer Williams, Jr. who is known for Tyler Perry's Love thy Neighbor and House of Payne. Burnett says, "We want to continue the dream of the Shakur family with an outdoor performing arts venue and a new statue of Tupac Shakur. Soon fans will have the opportunity to purchase bricks with their names engraved. We already have an artist who has designed a rendition of a new sculpture. Rapper T.I. (Clifford Harris) who in a YouTube video said in summary that the statue does not look like the rapper he knew, and further stated he would have an interest in a new statue. It has been more than 20 years since his death and that means that there is a whole generation who does not know who he is. We are a 501C-3 organization and we are optimistic about people donating to the cause."

Elite Executive Center which is a part of the property is a state of the art executive office suite for business owners who need an office with amenities. There is still 14,000 square feet in the building that is planned for performing arts and entertainment. Indeed, a big year for Tupac Shakur, a first-time ballot Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Shakur will be inducted by Snoop Dogg at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This year is expected to be the release of the much-anticipated movie honoring his life called "All Eyez on Me" which is set to be released on Friday, June 16, 2017. The movie is directed by Benny Boom and Tupac Shakur role will feature a newcomer to the film industry Demetrius Shipp, Jr.
