New Bee Species Discovered - makes for great pets!

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 01, 2009 ) Sydney, Australia - News headlines of late have been chock-a-block with bee stories. The Africanized bee is a real threat and the honey bee is becoming extinct and threatens all of humanity. But there is now some good news in the bee world. A new breed of bee, known for its friendliness and sociability has taken bee-keeping to a new level.

Scientists have discovered a new species of bee in central Australia (a land known for its unique animal breeds such as the koala, kangaroo and wombat) which have begun migrating east and have even been spotted in California.

Scientists are baffled by these amazingly strange, blue and yellow jacketed hymenopters (bees) that don't make honey, don't have stingers and are NOT aggressive. In fact, it seems that this unique brand of bee has evolved to a serve a very unique purpose. These bees are extremely friendly and have even been domesticated.

New and exotic pets, amongst Hollywood's A-list, have long been common. Celebrities have been known to keep and care for all manner of exotic animals but who could have predicted this? A new bee species, who has been named 'meebee' that interacts and assists their human counterparts and is so tame that it can even be put on a leash and taken for a buzz around the town. And with big name celebrities even being sighted out and about walking (even flying) their pet bees, this new trend is bound to take off!

These meebee pet owners have began to congregate in cafes, parks, bars, and every place where people meet up and their meebees are bringing them together. Forget the Pet Rock, owning your own bee has become the most recent in nouveau sheik.

Professional Australian Beekeeper, Rick Bemene, who originally discovered the new breed on his farm in Wagga Wagga says he's "Â…never seen anything quite like this in all my years. A cute, communicative and friendly bee that makes a great companion!"

A website for loyal meebee owners has been established at www.meebeekeeper.com. A place to share with the meebee community, videos, photos and comments about their friendly and helpful meebee.
