(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 07, 2009 ) PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas--Prairie View A&M University, the second oldest public institution of higher education in Texas, kicked off its month-long 2009 Black History Month Celebration, Thurs., Jan. 29 with its Spring Convocation. This year’s PVAMU Black History Month events center around the theme “Black Empowerment in the Americas: BE THE CHANGE”.
The university will host a colorful array of exhibits, lectures and programs throughout February, which will include comedian Dick Gregory, photography exhibit by photographer and widow of tennis legend Arthur Ashe, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, a gospel extravaganzaand a book review with former NFL player Willie Alexander.
