Timothy O'Keefe Presents: Remembering Frank Sinatra The Capitol Years

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, July 22, 2014 ) Hendersonville, NC --- Singer Timothy O'Keefe has done just about everything. He’s been on the Tonight Show, performed in Las Vegas and Reno, starred on television (Quincy, Battle Star Galactica, CHiPS) and in film. He has sung in big and small venues all over the country, appeared in award-winning plays and recorded albums.

The Hendersonville, N.C., resident has one more bridge to cross, however. It’s been his lifelong dream to perform a Frank Sinatra tribute show and take it on the road.

“I’ve dreamed about doing this show for more than 15 years,” said O’Keefe. “I fell in love with Sinatra’s music when I was young.”

The show is not an impersonation act. It’s an affectionate Broadway-style musical and biographical look into one of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century. O’Keefe performs with a 17-piece big band and tells stories about Sinatra, creating a unique, and very personal, musical tribute.

The show, titled Remembering Frank Sinatra: The Capitol Years, focuses on 1953-61, combining hit songs with tales from his music and acting careers, including his stunning role in From Here to Eternity as well as his volatile relationship with his wife, Ava Gardner, and his hijinks with the Rat Pack.

“I chose this period because this was the most powerful time in Sinatra’s career,” O’Keefe explained. “He was with Capitol Records and these years are full of great stories and magnificent music.”

Putting together and marketing a show of this magnitude is expensive. In addition to the musicians’ salaries and living expenses, there is travel cost, sound equipment, technical expenses, insurance, booking fees and other miscellaneous costs. O’Keefe estimates that he’ll need about $8,500 to kick off the tour.

To generate this capital, he has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed at the Indiegogo site. The Indigogo page features a video that showcases live segments of the show.

Donations of any amount are welcome. Those who contribute at least $25 are eligible to receive perks, such as signed copies of the companion album, Remembering Frank Sinatra: The Capitol Years, which includes songs from the show. A $250 pledge is rewarded with the album plus two free tickets to O’Keefe’s show in the contributor’s area.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Feed the Kids (www.feedthekidscoalition.org), a special group devoted to feeding children who need a little extra love and food to help them grow.
