(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, August 18, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Coconut wine, or Vino de Coco, made from the sap of coconut palm flowers, is expected to hit shelves in China this month, where it will sell for around 100 yuan a bottle. Coconut wine has been long consumed in South Asia and Africa, but The Drinks Business, a reports trade publication says that while coconut win is considered a common “conventional” drink, the rest of the world may embrace the aroma, flavour and complexity.
Coconut wine is made by tapping the fresh sap from the flower of the coconut tree. There will be a proposed trio of wins, including smooth and tannic, sweet red wine, and sweet white coconut wine. After the wines go on sale in China, the company hopes to market and export it to the US and Canada, possibility as soon as the end of this year.
Meanwhile, scientists in Singapore have created wine from the world’s stinkiest fruit, known as durian, described as tasting like a combination of gym socks and rotten onions.The wine is just six percent alcohol and stripped of much of its pungent smell, and tasters reported that it didn’t taste “bad”.
