(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, July 01, 2013 ) Ghaziabad, India -- Helmut Newton has been one of the most influential photographers in the 20th century. He and his wife June have spent many winters in LA photographing iconic Hollywood Landmarks. Most of his pictures were of sexy women in provocative poses, highly sexualized but at the same time still elegantly feminine.
Newton helped break out fashion photography in the 1970s with images of strong, super sexy women. The Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, California features some of the most edgy work he’s ever done in his career, which started before 1940. He has been criticized by feminists as an “exploiter of women”, but also the king of kink by Time Magazine.
Newton spent many of his prime years as a photographer for high end magazine such as Vanity Fair and Vogue. In an interview some years ago, he said he was obsessed with the female form and loved to photograph nudes. Now, almost a 100 of those nudes are featured at the exhibit.
The exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography also features “Provocateur”, a documentary about Newton’s impact on fashion and photography and also “Helmut by June”, a short film shot and directed by Newton’s wife.
