(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, October 17, 2012 ) New York, NY – Voices United will stage a 600-voice festival chorus at the Beacon Theatre for a one-night benefit concert this coming November. The show is scheduled on the 12th of November and is set to begin at 7:30 PM. It will feature award-winning conductor Eric Knapp, who has been chosen to lead the event, and 600 performers from different choirs in the tri-state area including The Choir at St. Malachy’s, the Connecticut Choral Society, and the New Jersey Choral Society, among several others. The show will also include choral pieces especially arranged for the show as well as appearances by celebrity guests, namely singer and actress Linda Eder and singer and actor Ryan Silverman.
The concert promises a star-studded night and hopes to raise resources for many New Yorkers, particularly mothers and children, in need of special aid. The concert proceeds will go to the Covenant House New York and the outreach ministries of The Actor’s Chapel.
The Voices United Choral Festival in New York was founded by St. Malachy’s – The Actor’s Chapel. Based in the Broadway community, the festival features a convergence of voices coming from New York City, North America, and abroad.
St. Malachy’s - The Actor’s Chapel is a Roman Catholic Church located on West 49th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. The church itself was founded back in 1902 and has played a role in many notable events including weddings and funerals of many famous people. The church uses Voices United as a tool to serve the New York community.
Part of the upcoming event will be devoted to the presentation of the Father George Moore award, in memory of the late priest who saved St. Malachy’s from extinction, and the Paul Creston Award, in memory of the famed composer who spent thirty three years serving St. Malachy’s. The Father George Moore award, also known as the Religious Leader Award, will be received by Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel CFR, while the Paul Creston Award will go to David Higgs.

The unique offering from Voices United hopes to provide a unique concert experience and a venue for the young musicians in the metropolitan area of New York to present their musical talents to the public. One of the performances that have been confirmed for the said event is the tour de force ‘Hope for Resolution’ to be performed by Caldwell Ivory.
